Our office can help you with the application process for the Student Visa at the US embassy or to change your status to the F1 if you are in the US. We will prepare you for the visa interview at the embassy as well as advise you on your other immigration options.
The Immigration and Nationality Act provides two nonimmigrant visa categories for persons wishing to study in the United States. The “F” visa is reserved for non-immigrants wishing to purse academic studies and/or language training programs, and the “M” visa is reserved for non-immigrants wishing to pursue nonacademic or vocational studies.
Once an F-1 student completes the degree program, he/she is eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT). OPT allows a student to work for 1 year in a field related to their degree. The student may start their own business or work for a company. An OPT can be extended for a 17 month period of time if the degree was in a STEM field (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
